Olam Agri Lays Foundation for New Cotton Gin in Kong, Côte d’Ivoire
Olam Agri, a leading agribusiness transforming food, feed and fibre to cultivate a more sustainable future, has laid the foundation for the construction of its third cotton gin in Côte d’Ivoire. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on 12 May 2023 at the site in Kong and marks a significant milestone for the company’s commitment to sustainable cotton production in the country.
With over 20,000 cotton farmers under its guidance, Olam Agri’s cotton business has played a vital role in the country’s cotton industry. The new cotton gin in Kong, which is expected to be operational by April 2024, will further expand the company’s reach and strengthen its commitment to the cotton farming community.

Olam Agri currently operates two wholly owned gins in Ouangolodougou and Ferkessédougou. The new cotton gin is expected to lead to the creation of over 180 job opportunities contributing to the local economy.
