Crown Flour Angels Baking Academy Hits 700 Graduates
This December, we celebrated a major milestone as 140 women graduated from our Crown Flour Angels (CFA) Baking Academy in Abuja. This brings the total number of women trained through the programme to an impressive 700!
Launched in 2021, the CFA is a development programme designed to empower women with practical baking skills. This initiative is part of our larger Seeds for the Future. By equipping women with the tools to succeed, the academy provides pathways to entrepreneurship, financial independence, and food security.
Graduates undergo intensive training, including sitting for the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) certification to boost their industry credibility. Recently, the programme’s impact has expanded further with the involvement of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), enabling participants to access national entrepreneurship support opportunities.
Nigeria’s population is split equally between men and women, so it’s crucial to empower women if we want to close the poverty gap. With the CFA Baking Academy, we’re helping women turn their baking dreams into real businesses. So far, we’ve trained 700 women, and we’re just getting started!

We want participants to succeed not just as bakers, but as business owners. That’s why we teach them business management, profitability tracking, and how to use our Olam Bake Well App. It’s all about setting them up for long-term success.
Abhishek Singh,
Vice President - Grains Milling, Nigeria
Olam Agri is making a real difference by empowering women to start their own businesses and support their families. It’s a win for everyone—reducing poverty, boosting food security, and growing small businesses.
Charles Odii,
Director General of SMEDAN
NABTEB’s State Coordinator, Chinwendu Ogu, also applauded our dedication to human capital development, recognizing its impactful collaboration with the examination board.
The CFA Baking Academy is more than a training programme; it’s a movement toward sustainable growth, economic empowerment, and a brighter future for Nigerian women. Together, we’re building the skills that build a nation.
